Wreaths at Ft. Stanton

As a part of the project, “Wreaths Across America” wreaths were laid on 300 graves at Ft. Stanton, NM, including one on Grumpy’s grave. This tradition for Ft. Stanton was started by some ushers at the nearby Spencer Theater and has grown over the years.

Taps was played and Bob’s sister, Marilyn, led the group of more than 50 family and volunteers in singing “America the Beautiful.”
Wreaths were laid at the base of the obilisk to represent the army, navy, marines, air force, coast guard and merchant marines. These folks laid a wreath in honor of someone in the appropriate service.
Snow capped Sierra Blanca adds to the beauty of this place.
