Today we drove from Santa Fe to Eagle Nest, NM in the Enchanted Circle that includes Taos, Red River and Angel Fire as well as Eagle Nest and a few other small towns. On the way up, the mountains were, of course, beautiful. We also came upon the Grand Canyon of the Rio Grande which is pretty impressive. Between Eagle Nest and Angel Fire is the first Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial. The chapel was built in 1968 by a man who had lost his son in Vietnam. More on this later when we stop for a visit. The snow capped mountain in the last picture is Wheeler Peak. At 13,161 feet, it is the highest mountain in New Mexico.
