Live Oaks, Magnolias, Camellias – Wow

The live oaks in Mobile are incredible and messing with one on public property can result in a several thousand dollar fine and one year in jail.  These live oaks are often covered in resurrection fern which is a lovely green now after recent rain but can, apparently, turn quite brown.  We didn’t see any Spanish moss like we have seen all across the south so far.  It is the end of camellia season and not quite azalea (Mobile is known as the Azalea City) time but the pear and other fruit trees were quite pretty.  We are staying in the area another week and hoping the azaleas will begin popping .  In the last picture one can hardly tell where the live oak ends and the magnolia begins!

  1. I have to admit that we have not headed to this area, not big fans of humidity! But, may have to reconsider, very pretty indeed.

    1. Do it early enough in the spring so it is not humid. Believe it or not that does happen. I do not do heat and humidity either and it was delightful. Thanks for your comments. We are so happy someone is looking at this.
