Two days before the wedding (the reason we are all together) the parents of the groom, John, hosted a dinner for the relatives in generations from aunts and uncles up. No one from the wedding couple’s generation were included (except siblings). It was great because we had the couple to ourselves for one evening. After that, of course, they wanted to mostly spend time with their friends (although they were wonderful to include us older folks at every turn). John’s grandparents are in the first picture (with two Aunt Marilyns, Great-Aunt Carolyn and Uncle John) while the second is of him and his mother and sister. The bride, Maggie, was seated between her future in-laws and the groom likewise. It was really fun to all be together and to start to know some of Maggie’s family. They are a very warm and welcoming clan.
