Of the five castles built in North Wales by Edward I to protect the English from the Welsh locals, this is the only one completed and is said to have the best views. More about the history of this medieval castle is found here.
After entering the castle you are met by The Guard!
The views over the Conwy River and out to the Irish Sea are amazing. Before the bridges one had to take a ferry across the river.
The suspension bridge was built from 1822 to 1826. The wrought iron tubular bridge was built between 1846 and 1849 for the railway. The modern bridge is from the 1950s.
Doesn’t look too bad for 700 years old.
