It is hard to imagine a more desolate place than this area of south Texas along the Rio Grande River.  On the other hand, it is incredibly beautiful. While staying here we saw a havelina beside the road, a coyote running beside the road, a small mountain lion moving away from the road, many jack rabbits and road runners. Fortunately it was too cool for any snakes to be out.
