Driving to the China Ranch Date Farm was an experience in itself. The last two miles of the road were unpaved/gravel, some of it one-lane, and bounded by amazing walls. The area was mined in many places for a number of things so there are holes in the walls above the road in many places.
When we visited Death Valley we could not go to Scotty’s Castle due to road closure from flooding a couple of years ago. One of the things the material said about the flood was that debris moved by the water would have actually reshaped the canyon (and that is what created some of these canyons). Looking at these boulders you can understand. But, wow, the power of the water to move such boulders!
